For anyone who lives in Greece or has children attending school in Greece, it is now required that you have a National Health Card and number (AMKA number). To obtain this number (the card will be mailed to you later), all you need to do is go to your local Citizen Assistance Centers (KEP) and provide the clerk with information contained on your passport or ID. For adults, your local tax number will also be required. For children, the parents will need to also bring a copy of the Family’s Registration Certification ("Pistopiitiko ikogeniakis katastasia"). The deadline to complete this process is September 1, 2009.
