THE HELLENIC NATIONAL CADASTRE

As of June 17th, Ktimatologio S.A. begins the new generation of cadastral surveys in 107 Municipalities, Communities and local districts in Attica, Thessaloniki and the prefectures’ capitals that have not been surveyed during the previous programmes.

It is the most important programme implemented to date, which will survey 3.1 million stremmas of properties and register in the Hellenic Cadastre 6.7 million property rights, covering 2/3 of the country’s population.

The new generation of cadastral surveys will be completed in 2011. The real estate property owners of these areas are asked to declare their rights to the Hellenic Cadastre from June 17th until October 31st 2008, while expatriates and people living permanently abroad can declare their rights until December 30th 2008.

What citizens should do:

  1.   They can settle any pending issues they may have regarding their rights (e.g. to check whether the property deeds have been transcribed in the official Land Registry Office, if there are any errors in their contracts or they can take care of pending preliminary agreements, resolutory conditions in purchase contracts etc.).
  2.   They must attach to the declaration form the necessary documentation, which is: a) A simple photocopy of the titles that substantiate the property rights (e.g. contracts) b) The voucher from the payment of the fixed cadastral survey fee. Upon submission of the declaration, a simple photocopy of the Identification Card is required while a document reading the Tax ID Number of the declarer (e.g. revenue statement, power bill etc.) must be presented.
