Koropi (Greek, Modern: Κορωπί, Ancient/Katharevousa: -on), is a suburb in the eastern part of Athens, Greece. It is the seat of the municipality Kropia. The Hymettus mountain is to the west. The nearest subway station is at Eleftherios Venizelos. It serves access with the Attiki Odos (numbers 6), the main section was served to its east but by March 2004, it now has its own interchange with the Hymettus Ring with Lavriou Avenue. The Attiki Odos runs to the northeast and east while the Hymettus rung runs slightly south of the centre. A tunnel is to its northwest. It is located SE of GR-1/E75 (Athens - Lamia - Thessaloniki), E and SE of Kifissia Avenue, SW of Rafina Periphery: Attica

Koropi is mostly surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. There is an industrial park and a hillside mine to the south.

Attiki Odos runs to the east, with a new, extensive network of roads connecting it to the 2-lane Vari-Koropi Road, the Lavrion and Sounion Avenues near Markopoulo, and the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.

Around 1996 and 1997, a tremendous forest fire burning from the south of Ymittos headed for Koropi, some of its groves were burnt, mostly forests suffered destruction from the fire's fury. The fire was gladly escaped much of the agricultural portion and the city of Koropi.

Kropia

Kropia (Greek: Κρωπία) is a municipality in East Attica, Greece. It is located southeast of Athens at the fringes of the Athens metropolitan area, and has a land area of 102.000 km². Its population was 25,325 at the 2001 census. The seat of the municipality is in the town of Koropi (pop. 15,860). In descending order of population, its other villages are Kítsi (pop. 3,204), Agía Marína (2,671), Ágios Dimítrios (1,956), and Karellás (1,634).
